The VIVA Wheelers are a group of cyclists of all abilities who have raised over €300,000 for VIVA's projects worldwide since 2005. The venture was inspired by Pat Murphy, a vet in Co Galway, who having taken part in fundraising cycles for many charities wanted to do the same for VIVA. Our first cycle challenges were overseas with fundraising cycles in Vietnam (2005) and Morocco (2007) raising over €120,000 for our overseas projects. In 2009, we started our annual one-day event, a 100km cycle in some of Ireland's most scenic locations. So far we have visited the Burren (2009 & 2017), Bantry (2010), Westport (2011 & 2015), Dungarvan (2012), the Glen of Aherlow (2013), Leitrim (2014), Kilkenny (2016), the Slieve Bloom mountains (2018) and Ballyhoura country (Limerick) in 2021. The overseas cycles were resurrected in 2019 with a trip to Mallorca. In recent years a hike has been added to the event for the non-cyclists. The annual "Bike 'n Hike" attracts over 100 participants raising approx. €15,000 for VIVA's overseas projects.

With many participants returning year after year, this is an ideal opportunity to take up a new hobby, make new friends and see Ireland as it should be seen – from the saddle of a bike!
